The Russia national football team (Russian: национа́льная сбо́рная Росси́и по футбо́лу, natsionálnaya sbórnaya Rossii po futbólu) represents Russia in association football and is controlled by the Russian Football Union (Russian: Российский Футбольный Союз, Rossiyskiy Futboľnyy Soyuz), the governing body for football in Russia. Russia has appeared in ten World Cups and will host the tournament in 2018. Russia is a member of UEFA, they won the first edition of the respective continental competition in 1960 as Soviet Union (of which Russia is the successor).[2]
