The Russia national football team (Russian: национаÌÐ»ÑŒÐ½Ð°Ñ ÑбоÌÑ€Ð½Ð°Ñ Ð Ð¾ÑÑиÌи по футбоÌлу, natsionálnaya sbórnaya Rossii po futbólu) represents Russia in association football and is controlled by the Russian Football Union (Russian: РоÑÑийÑкий Футбольный Союз, Rossiyskiy Futboľnyy Soyuz), the governing body for football in Russia. Russia has appeared in ten World Cups and will host the tournament in 2018. Russia is a member of UEFA, they won the first edition of the respective continental competition in 1960 as Soviet Union (of which Russia is the successor).[2]
