These are some of my academic projects I've completed for my web design class as well as my organizational strategy capstone course this year at Siena College.
In case you are new to web design here are a few tips to help you become more familiar with HTML. HTML documents are text documents structured with special markup tags also called elements. Unlike other document formats such as PDF and Microsoft Word, HTML source code is human readable. HTML elements do not just change the appearance of text (i.e., bold vs. italic, large vs. small font, etc.), they are used to specify the structure, purpose and meaning of text. Web pages can link to other web pages and external images can be embedded. To link or embed other files, one must understand where files are located and how to reference them with urls. HTML tables are used to format tabular data and should not be used to create page layouts. When tables are properly formatted, programs and applications can more easily parse and extract correct information from the table. The beauty of CSS is that all the pages of a logical website can share the same stylesheet, which allows a designer to change the appearance of many web pages by changing the code in one file.
My organizational strategy course deals with the development and implementation of organization strategy. It focuses on the perspectives, analytical techniques, and capabilities utilized by managers to improve an organization's probability of attaining sustainable competitive advantage and success in the long term. It is considered a capstone course because students are asked to integrate much of what they have learned in other courses into the analytical and decision-making process.
