The 1965 Shelby GT 350

The Shelby GT 350 was the creation of the famous American Driver and Car Designer Carroll Shelby. He was hired by Ford in 1965 to take the Mustang and transform it into a street legal race car.

Shelby started with the 271-hp “HiPo” version of the 289 V-8. He added a high-riser intake manifold mated with a 4-barrel Holley Carb, welded-tube headers leading to a dual glass packed, side exit exhaust and cast-aluminum valve-rocker covers which was able to boost the horsepower to 306. Also, he added bigger and better brakes as well as adjustable racing suspension. Weight was also reduced by removing the rear seat and adding a fiberglass hood.
